The start of 2025 has had many good and bad. There are many reasons to be excited about for a film enthusiast. With many sequels and some big new movies that can almost guarantee at least a billion dollars in the box office.
One movie that many have been looking forward to is the next entry to the Jurassic World/Park franchise is Jurassic World Rebirth starring Scarlet Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. With a trailer releasing February 5, 2025 this movie is expected to release this summer. With over $300,000,000 per movie in the box office this film could be one of the largest of the year. With lower and lower critic scores over the Jurassic World trilogy this movie will hopefully break the downward spiral.
Another big film from a big series that will release on July 25 is Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. This film will take place in an alternate universe in a 1960s based 2025 New York City. This movie will likely lead somewhat into the Avengers Doomsday movie that will come out May of 2026 which can almost guarantee a billion dollars in the box office based on past installments. The Fantastic Four film being the 3rd reboot of the beloved heroes in the 2000s it is not easily able to identify if they will do well after the well favored 2005 and 2007 films but not as favored 2015 film.
To compete this summer for highest grossing superhero film for summer, releasing July 11, Superman will release as a reboot to the whole past DC universe and all of its films after ratings of the films went down over time. It is almost impossible to see how well this film will perform based on past DC movies’ performance. Its release being earlier than Fantastic Four: First Steps it may have an advantage.
On June 13 we will get Elio from Disney. With the sad decline of all of the new and original Disney films it may not look too good for the film. Many people are also disappointed about all of the unoriginal sequels and remakes of films. This film has had a rough run even before it was released like how the whole story of the film was redone because of an unhappy reaction to the teaser trailer.
