With the Nominees being announced and the show being only a couple of weeks away, it feels like an appropriate time to do a brief article on the subject.
Of course, we start with the category that the majority of people care about, The Game of the Year. To begin with the nominees, we have Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 who was not just nominated for GOTY but 11 other categories, making it the most nominated game in the show’s history, it is contending in Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Role Playing Game. On top of all that, three of the six slots for Best Performance are occupied by the actors for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, once again showing just how good a game can be.
But don´t count out the other contestants since there are still some heavu hitters who may just take the title of GOTY. The long-anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight, Hollow Knight: Silksong is another contender for the spot of GOTY and some other notable categories such as Best Art Direction. Best Score and Music, and Best Independent Game with it being another fierce contender for the title.
Up next is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Death Stranding, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Of course, being a creation of the famed Hideo Kojima and his team, it rightfully claims a spot here in the nominees of GOTY and several previously mentioned categories.
Next up is the Nintendo game Donkey Kong Bananza which has been praised for its gameplay and visuals and destruction mechanics, with it also being nominated for Best Family Game.
Up next is the sequel to one of gaming’s most acclaimed games, Hades 2. Of course, also being nominated for several other previously mentioned categories it is another fierce contender for the title of GOTY.
Last but certainly not least is the sequel to one of gaming’s most interactive titles, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. With its astounding gameplay and story, it is, once again, a fierce contender for GOTY.
Of course, there are a myriad of other games and categories I have not mentioned, but you can vote for them on the official site before December 11th and wait and see just how this amazing year’s awards end.
