Drivers in Maryland turned a normal highway into a scene out of a slapstick comedy, all because some fake cash started swirling through the air. Cars screeched to a halt on the shoulder, and people jumped out, running after what they thought was easy money. Turns out, the bills were just movie props, stamped right across the front with “Not Legal Tender.” Lt. Brian Talley from the state police didn’t mince words: “This could have caused serious accidents. We’re glad no one got hurt, but chasing money—especially fake money—on the highway is a terrible idea.”
Investigators think the bills probably escaped from a vehicle hauling props for a film shoot. Now, there’s video all over the internet showing drivers holding up the fake bills and looking completely baffled. The internet, of course, ran wild with it—memes, jokes, and plenty of people saying, “Story of my life.”
