Half Moon Bay Shooting
A mass shooting at a farm and nearby site in California, which killed seven people, was probably a case of workplace violence. The attack took place on Tuesday in the coastal city of Half Moon Bay. Suspect Chunli Zhao was arrested after driving to a police station. The Half Moon suspect used a legally purchased semi-automatic handgun, police say. The back to back shootings happened so close together that California’s Governor was still meeting the victims of the first shooting when he was informed of the second shooting. The victims who were shot were agricultural workers, and families have come forth to speak on the victims. When asked about one victim, 50 -year- old Marciano Martinez Jimenez, his brother Servando Martinez Jimenez told the Associated Press “He was a good person. He was polite and friendly with everyone. He never had any problems with anyone. I don’t understand why all this happened.” Sheriff Corpus said, “ the only connection between the suspects and the victims is that they may have been co-workers”. Zhao is reported to appear in court later on Wednesday, where he is anticipated to face seven murder charges as well as one count of attempted murder.
