Denver Public Schools Close for Mental Health Day after Recent Shooting- Due to a recent shooting at Denver Public High School, Denver Public Schools closed down for a mental health day. Many students have been affected mentally as most protest to end gun violence. The District Superintendent says “This mental health day after the week-long Spring Break is meant to allow us all to take a moment to pause and process the challenging events this year.” Students and teachers rally in protest to end gun violence. Student Aubriana Acuna says, “ I can’t even walk outside my house without feeling like I’m gonna die, or I’m gonna get shot.” Many teachers have been picketing due to the uneasy feelings of returning. “We just want to know: Are our kids safe to come back?” parent Steve Katsaros told KMGH on Friday. “Our teachers aren’t gonna come back unless they know they’re safe, and I don’t blame them. I will support them. I will picket with them.” In the shooting, two Denver Public High staff members were wounded. The shooter, Austin Lyle has been patted down the morning of Wednesday, the day of the shooting. He later left the building after the shooting and shot himself. His body and car was found by the Denver Police 50 miles away. The school will remove the ban the suspicion of armed security in the school.

5 Kids Rescued from Staten Island Sewer System- Five trouble-making boys were rescued from the Staten Island sewer system after they crawled into the tunnel and got trapped. The FDNY got an emergency call around 6 p.m on Tuesday from one of the boys. Authorities determined that the boys crawled into the tunnel and traveled up a quarter mile. A firefighter entered the area and dropped a rope down with breathing equipment. It was difficult for the dispatcher to find out where exactly the boys were trapped. Luckily, the boys were brought to safety about 30 minutes after the firefighters arrived.

Several Trump Aids Must Testify in Court- A federal judge has ordered several former Trump aids to testify in court as part of a criminal investigation into efforts overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election. Trump’s legal team has challenged subpoenas demanding testimony and documents from Judge Meadows, as well as several others, by asserting executive privilege. Last week, then-Chief-Judge Beryl Howell rejected the Trump team’s claims of privilege for Meadows. Some of the witnesses who have already appeared on trial have refused to answer some questions. This investigation and case is still ongoing.
