With the Game Awards about a week behind us now allow me to offer a quick recap of the show and the sweeping success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Starting off with the awards, Clair Obscur won nine out of the thirteen awards it was nominated for, the most in the show’s history, with it winning Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Performance (from Jennifer English who voiced Maelle), Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best RPG. E33 even got a live performance of personally my favorite song from the game, “Une vie à t’aimer”.
Now, of course, other games were awarded, with some notable awards being Silksong winning best Action/Adventure, Best Multiplayer Game going to Arc Raiders, and Best Action Game going to Hades 2.
There were also some exciting announcements with the reveal of Divinity, a new game from Larian Studios, the creators of the Baldur’s Gate and Divinity series. Two new Star Wars games were also announced, along with two new Tomb Raider games. There was a reveal for Warlock, a game set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Control Resonant, sequel to Control (a personal favorite); and a promising indie game called Bradley the Badger, which seems to be a platformer using coding-themed abilities. And many more.
Of course, I would be remiss not to mention that just yesterday, Team Cherry announced a DLC for Silksong known as “Sea of Sorrow” set to come out in 2026, announcing this mere days after the Game Awards (which they did not attend) and only after 2 months of the game being out, is for lack of a better term, hilarious. And it’s completely free, which has fans of the game distraught because they want to pay them cherry for content.
And thus, the Game Awards have been wrapped up and we wait for next year.
