Last Friday’s art show was a wonderful way for artists to show their work, with one artist being questioned about their art multiple times and had lots of teacher awards.
Ash Palmer’s works intend to disturb the comforted and comfort the disturbed. His use of multiple queers and trans themes throughout the paintings shows the ins and outs of how resilient both trans and queers have been throughout the years.

Waking up:
‘speaks’ about how something like a pet, or an object, or a person can help someone feel like they can get through the day. “a beam of light in the darkness.”

To Heal:
This painting is about how trans men struggle with intimacy, as their bodies do not align with their gender identity. The history of pup-play is centered on masculinity, which provides a safety net in those areas.
“focal point that draws your eyes to their face and not their body.”

Lavendar Wedding
This piece is about “lavender marriages”, which allowed them to stay safe in society in times when being queer wasn’t as widely accepted.
