1-800-273-8255

When I was in the car a couple weeks ago a song called 1-800-273-8255 by Logic came on, on the radio. My first reaction to the song was like what kind of weird music is Logic coming out with, but I continued to listen to the song and I felt it in a way where I almost wanted to cry due to it being so good first of all but most importantly because it was a good song that contained a real life message. Later on I looked up the phone number that was used as the song title, which just so happened to be a suicide hotline; I was sucked in by this song and wanted to refresh my mind on the percentage of people that still commit suicide today. I didn’t think committing suicide was a huge thing anymore as it was years before, even though I definitely know it still happens. I was astonished by the amount of people that commit suicide per day… 121 individuals take their life away per day, on average, as confirmed by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. That’s a tremendous amount of people who feel like their life isn’t good enough, and just feel that they should just end it all.  With this vile energy and need to commit suicide because of certain reason people just feel like they can’t handle, Logic took it upon himself to write a song which argues that no matter how rough something is in your life, never settle for the worst and weakest outcome, you just have to stay strong and get through the pain because in the end, it actually gets better. So many people need this message in life due to the death percentage from suicide. Not to mention, ever since 1-800-273-8255 came out, the suicide hotline received calls have increased drastically. Therefore, if anyone of you Page Pirates are conflicted, listen to Logic’s song, call the suicide hotline, or talk to someone close to you, just never settle for actually taking matters into your own hands by committing suicide.
