The NBA playoffs are down to the final four teams, with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and San Antonio Spurs all fighting for a spot in the Finals. The Knicks have become one of the biggest surprises of the postseason after sweeping Philadelphia and advancing to face Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals.
For the Knicks to win the NBA championship, everything starts with Jalen Brunson. Brunson has carried New York offensively throughout the playoffs and continues to deliver in clutch moments late in games. The Knicks also need strong defensive performances from OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns to slow down Cleveland stars Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. New York’s defense and depth have become their identity during this playoff run.
One concern for New York is health. Anunoby’s hamstring injury could become a major issue if the series becomes long and physical. The Cavaliers also present matchup problems because of their size inside with Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. If the Knicks struggle rebounding the basketball, Cleveland could control the pace of the series.
Still, New York fans have reason to believe this team can finally break through. The Knicks have shown toughness, chemistry, and confidence throughout the postseason. If Brunson continues playing at an All-NBA level and the defense stays consistent, the Knicks may have their best opportunity in years to bring a championship back to Madison Square Garden.
