Rivalry Week

Last week was another successful one for the Page Pirates Men’s Soccer team. They started off with a dominant 4-1 win against Dudley on Tuesday in which the whole team got involved in the effort. However, their game on Thursday was the one everyone had their eyes on. Every year, the most anticipated game for the boys is their home game against cross-town rival, Grimsley. Page hoped to continue their success so far this season against a Grimsley team that has struggled and currently sits at the bottom of the conference rankings. Rankings and records mean nothing though in this rivalry, as the two teams always bring their best effort and produce a close game. Page finally broke the silence with a well executed corner kick that junior Tyler Cook finished with a header. Grimsley was able to equalize the score later in the second half after a lapse in the Page defense. Page responded minutes later after finishing a ball that bounced around in the box off a free kick. The game ended with a 2-1 win for the Pirates. The boys have been cruising through their schedule as of lately and continued their dominance early this week. They hosted RJ Reynolds on Monday and ended the game early with a mercy rule win of 9-0. Yesterday, they travelled to Southern Alamance in what is always a very physical game and tough place to play. Page had another impressive outing and finished with a 5-1 win. They will look to maintain their spot atop the conference with a game against Smith tomorrow at home. Things are definitely looking good for the Pirates as the regular season begins to come to an end.
