Just Keep Runnin’

Last Tuesday, the Page Pirates indoor track team travelled to Winston Salem, NC. The Southwest Guilford Invitational was the Pirates second meet of the season and they hoped to follow up a strong performance in their first meet. The meet took place at JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem and was hosted by Southwest Guilford.

From the girl’s side, Rebecca Hunt placed seventh in the 1000 meter run and fourth in the 1600 meter run. Ashlee Smith placed twelfth in the 1600 meter run. Freshman, Lucy Froelich, placed sixth in the 55 meter hurdles. Armani Priester represented in the women’s shot put event and placed ninth with a score of 27-00.50. The girls 4×800 meter relay placed second out of five schools participating and finished with a time of 11:24.92.

The boys had a strong showing as well on their side. In the 1000 meter run, Ian Shanklin placed second, Ahmed Sinada placed sixth, and Freddie Marx placed seventh. Micah Gafford and Garrett Willett placed tenth and eleventh in the 300 meter dash. Gafford also placed fourth in the 55 meter dash. Assad Alston represented the Pirates in the triple jump and placed fourth with a score of 38-03.50. In the 4×200 meter relay, the boys placed third out of six teams with a time of 1:37.28. However, the boys’ best team event was the 4×800 meter relay where they finished first with an impressive time of 8:49.52.
