The Page Pirates indoor track team travelled to Winston-Salem, NC to participate in the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Championship. The event took place on February 13^th and only a few select members of the team qualified for the event. The individuals who qualified for the meet were Ian Shanklin and Freddie Marx. Also, the men’s 4×800 and 4×200 meter relay teams qualified for this meet. The 4×800 team consisted of Freddie Marx, Stuart Coates, Sam Farrell and Dontavius Monroe. The 4×200 team included Micah Gafford, Assad Alston, Dontavius Monroe and Javon Leake. The Pirates participating had high hopes to perform well and represent Page as a whole.

The men’s 4×200 meter relay team placed 22^nd. The men’s 4×800 meter relay team placed 9^th. For individual events, Freddie Marx placed 21^st in the men’s 3200 meter run. Ian Shanklin placed 17^th in the men’s 1600 meter run.

These were all very impressive performances from our Pirates as they represented us in this state meet. The Page Pirates indoor track team as a whole has trained this season in hopes of reaching their maximum abilities and they successfully did so. We should be nothing but proud of our Pirates and their accomplishments this season. Congratulations to all the members of the team on another celebratory season!
