Girls Soccer Wrap Up

The Page women’s soccer team suffered a hard loss on Friday, May 13th. This loss came in the second round of the state playoffs and ultimately ended the Pirates’ season. It was certainly a season to remember for the Lady Pirates as they exceeded already high expectations and ended the season with an impressive 17-4-1 overall record. In his first season as head coach, Jim Pielow led the girls to a 9-1 record in conference play and they won the title of conference champions. The Pirates boasted all of these accomplishments even with a surprisingly young roster loaded with talent. The lone three seniors on the team this season were Kelsey Chamberlin, Hannah Diaz and Gillian Smith. Chamberlin will be playing at Washington and Lee University next year and Diaz will be playing at Belmont University. The team will return eight juniors, seven sophomores, and two freshmen. We asked Hannah Diaz, “How would you say your senior season went and what are your expectations for the team next year?” Diaz responded and told us, “My senior season was really fun and pretty chill! We all got along really well from the start and we became really close. It was awesome that we were conference champions! My expectations for next year are for the team to bring good energy and work hard every practice to make a run in playoffs.
