The wrestling team won their match on Wednesday, November 30th, against Western Guilford. The Pirates slammed Western, by a score of 57-18. Fourteen Pirates won their matches, either by pin, forfeit, or points. Coach Ashley is happy with the results, and is very optimistic for the season, considering quite a few wrestlers are still missing while football is in playoffs. The team has the potential for a very productive season, as some upperclassmen are expected to step up and mature, as well as some freshmen who will be moved to varsity.

On Saturday, December 3rd, the Pirates competed in a multi-team tournament, the Wildcat Invitational, between Page, Southeast, and Northwest hosted at Eastern Guilford. The Pirates won 2nd place. Coach Ashley doesn’t love this result, as he knows the team can do better, but still expects to be better once football is over. The next match is Wednesday, December 7th at Grimsley.
