The Page Pirates sailed to an impressive 50–40 victory over the Grimsley Whirlies on Tuesday night, putting together a complete team performance that showcased sharp shooting, dominant inside play, and lockdown defense. From the opening tip, Page set the tone with energy on both ends of the floor and never let Grimsley find a rhythm.
Leading the offensive charge was Caleb Palombo, who caught fire from beyond the arc. Palombo repeatedly knocked down timely three-pointers, stretching the Whirlies’ defense and igniting the Pirates’ crowd. Each knockdown three came at a crucial moment, helping Page maintain control throughout the game.
Inside the paint, Mason Duggins proved to be an unstoppable force. Duggins controlled the boards, finished strong through contact, and protected the rim on defense. His physical presence made life difficult for Grimsley’s offense and gave the Pirates a consistent edge in the post.
Lucas Schwab also played a key role in the win, doing much of the things that don’t always show up in the stat sheet while also scoring tough shots. Schwab provided steady ball handling, smart decision-making, and tough on-ball defense. His hustle and composure helped Page maintain momentum and execute down the stretch.
Perhaps the biggest key to the victory was Page’s defensive focus on Henry Trent, widely considered Grimsley’s best player. The Pirates swarmed Trent all night, denying him clean looks and forcing contested shots. Through disciplined team defense and constant pressure, Page effectively shut him down and prevented the Whirlies from finding an offensive spark.
The Pirates showed immense school pride, Page students showed up and drowned out the Grimsley student section with chants and support. The Pirates basketball team represented Page in the best light.
With balanced scoring, strong defense, and contributions across the lineup, the Pirates sent a clear message with their 50–40 win. Page will look to build on this performance as they continue their season with confidence and momentum.
