Island Escapism with Jimmy Buffett

Remembering a legend
Island+Escapism+with+Jimmy+Buffett

Jimmy Buffet is an icon. He is an American singer, song writer, and has created a genre of music that conjures up the “island escapism” lifestyle. His music blends together rock, country, pop, and funk. His song “Margaritaville” has become a go-to anthem for those who need a relaxed, tropical getaway. He released over 30 albums and sold over 20 million certified records worldwide which places him among the world’s bestselling music artists. Everyone all over the world has listened to Jimmy Buffet’s music and will continue to as time goes on.

Buffett was born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. In high school, he played the trombone in the school band and graduated in 1964. He enrolled in Auburn University, but only a year later he failed out of college. He wasn’t able to balance his new love for music with his schoolwork. He released his first record “Down to Earth” in 1970 and his platform skyrocketed from there.

Jimmy Buffet built little empires all over the world. He is a successful author and has two bestselling books about his life and philosophy. He also owns several businesses. His “Margaritaville” is a United States based hospitality company with restaurants, retail outlets, hotels, and merchandise. There are a total of 23 locations in America, Mexico, Canada, and more scattered throughout the Caribbean, Sydney, and Australia since September of 2012. In 2022, he anonymously donated World War II planes to Battleship Park Foundation located in Mobile, Alabama.

Jimmy Buffett sadly passed away September 1, 2023. Jimmy Buffett is someone who will remain in people’s hearts forever and his legacy will continue to shine for many years to come as long as there are sponge cakes to nibble on and a sun to bake beneath.
