April Students of the Month

The male Student of the Month for the month of April is Lorenzo Syquia. Lorenzo is very important member of Page’s marching band, being a conductor for football and basketball games as well as an incredible saxophone player. Managing school with extra activities can be very difficult, however Lorenzo has got it down to an art. He said, “I use a planner for all of my activities and plan everything out for the upcoming week to ensure that I get everything done. Also, I keep several alarms on to remind me to get the job done!” While Lorenzo does not currently have a job, he used to be a waiter at Abbotswood where he worked for a year and a half. Lorenzo stays busy by volunteering at the Greensboro Coliseum in his free time. Lorenzo loves volunteering at the Coliseum, he says, “It’s super cool to be able to help out at the Coliseum. They are super lenient and understanding and sometimes they’ll even let me watch me the events like concerts, basketball games, and the ice-skating events which is so much fun!” Along with marching band, Lorenzo is a part of National Honor Society, the Pit Orchestra, and Tri-M. After high school, Lorenzo plans to attend the University of North Carolina Greensboro and study in the nursing program. Lorenzo hopefully says, “I hope to graduate undergraduate and grad school debt free!” Congratulations on all of your great achievements Lorenzo, good luck!

The female student of the month for April is Cameron Kiser. Cameron is a dedicated Pirate who always has a smile on her face. Balancing school, sports, and clubs is overwhelming; but that never stops Cameron! Cameron says, “I drive and challenge myself to find a balance between school, clubs, and sports on a regular basis. I find little things to motivate me and I have to believe in myself that it CAN get done! I think about the future and how important it is to stay determined and to complete all of my work on time. It WILL be worth the struggle!” Cameron stays busy during the summer and the weekends by being a nanny. Cameron loves babysitting and said, “I love taking care of the 4 boys! I cook for them, take them to fun places, and try to make their summer the best!” Cameron is always finding ways to help her community. She volunteers every Friday morning at Irving Park Elementary School where she eats breakfast and interacts with 4th grade girls. Also, once a month she goes to her church where she partakes in “Buddy Break”, which is a program that kids with mental and physical disabilities come and play games in a safe environment. You’ve definitely seen Cameron’s face in one club or another, if there’s a club, she’s in it! Cameron is the Student Body Pep in Student Council, the president of Pep club, the president of Key Club, and a member of SLAP Club, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, and Unique Inspirations. Cameron says, “Each club I am a part of has a special and different part about it that I love!” After high school, Cameron plans to attend college, however she is still undecided. Cameron says, “It’s a difficult decision, but I am very grateful for the options granted upon me!” Cameron is done many things for our school and we’ll miss her smiling face greatly. Good luck, Cameron! We can’t wait to see where life takes you!
