Pirates Top Panthers For #1 Spot

On Friday, October 29th the Page Pirate football team defeated the number one team in the state, the Dudley Panthers 23-22.  This now marks the 9th win in a row for the Pirates.  It was a very exciting win for the Pirates taking down the number one team in the state.  This is a very big deal for the Pirates as we are now tied for 1st in the state, dropping the Dudley Panthers to 5th in the state. North Carolina Tar Heels head football coach, Larry Fedora made a special appearance to the game, flying in his helicopter and landing it right beside the football field.

Playing without starting running back Javon Leake due to a high ankle sprain, the Pirates played with a purpose. Quarterback Will Jones threw two touchdowns in the game, one to Ronald Polite, and the other to Anthony Rodriguez.  Micah Gafford showed off his running skills by scoring a rushing touchdown.  Kicker, Thomas Murray had a good game sinking all three of his extra points, and causing the Panthers a safety due to one of his punts.  On Friday, November 4th the Pirates take on Southern Alamance, at Southern Alamance for the final game of the regular season.
