Start to an Intense Pirate Season

The Varsity Men’s Soccer Team, coached by Ramine Ettefagh, kicked off their 2017 season. The Pirates’ first game took place on Tuesday, August 15th against the Wildcats of Lake Norman High School. The boys took the win of 4-1. Harry Hardy scored 2 goals, AC Camara scored 1 goal, and Caleb Patsch scored 1 goal off a PK.
On Wednesday, August 26th the Pirates took on the Trojans of Wesleyan Christian Academy. After a hard fought game, the Pirates lost 4-2. Giovanni Santibanez scored 1 goal along with AC Camara with 1 goal.
On Wednesday, August 30th, the soccer team took on Charlotte Catholic. The final score of the game ended as 2-1. Seconds after the game was tied up by Pirate Mack Pearsall the cougars took the ball down the field and score to make the score 2-1. There was a controversial call the refs made when the Page goalie, Eric Winkler, was injured.
On Tuesday, September 5th the Men’s varsity soccer team took on the R.J. Reynolds Demons. The Pirates faced a tough loss of 2-1. The game was very physical for both teams. Goalie, Eric Winkler, went down when the Demons scored their second goal however, decided to tough it out and stay in. In order to enhance their chance of scoring, the team pulled up Caleb Patsch to offense. The team’s goal was scored by Trip Hughes. The Pirates fought hard but could not pull off a win.
On Thursday, September 7, the team took on the Northern Nighthawks. Through a hard fought game Page took the victory. Gio Lagnerini scored 2 goals for the Pirates while Gio Santibanez scored 1 goal to help the Pirates take the lead against the Nighthawks. The men’s soccer team’s next game is Wednesday, September 20th against Davie High School.
