Pirates Finish Football Season in Playoffs

After a rough start to the season, Page’s varsity football team dominated High Point Central on October 25. Page scored 41 points, while High Point Central, a team with a 0-11 record, came out with only 7. Sophomore KJ Morehead scored 12 touchdown points, and Tylar Elliott earned five extra points out of the six possible points he kicked for. The next week was a bye week for the Pirates. On Friday, November 8, they played their next game, the most anticipated game of the season, after the school’s annual pep rally. In a battle against Grimsley, Page fought hard but lost, scoring 17 points against Grimsley’s 32 points. This is Grimsley’s first win against Page since the 2006-2007 season. Despite having only a 3-8 record, Page made it into the playoffs. On November 15, the team played Mooresville in an away game. Page scored 15 points while Mooresville scored 27. This loss ended the Pirates’ football season. However, the game moved Page’s ranking up to the top 100 high school football teams in North Carolina. After a tough year, the Pirates have motivation to work harder than ever to defeat their rival and many other teams next season.
